Are you ready for an opportunity to help save Argyll's rainforest? Join our Rainforest team, where we're working with communities and landowners to protect, regenerate and expand the rainforests of Argyll.

Argyll Countryside Trust (ACT) works to care for, enhance and promote the coast and countryside of Argyll and the Isles, so it can be enjoyed by the people who live, work and visit here.

With support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, our Rainforest Squad are responsible for practical regeneration, expansion and maintenance projects across Argyll. The Squad is designed to ensure there are Argyll based contractors to take Argyll's Rainforest Strategy forward.

We are looking for experienced, certified chainsaw operatives to assist our Rainforest Squad with the our work at sites across Argyll

£25,000 - £29,000 p/a (depending on experience)

35 hours per week

Fixed term to 31st March 2027, with possibility of extension

Responsible to

ACT Rainforest Operations Supervisor

The role

You'll be working as part of a team delivering a broad range of forestry and rainforest operations across the region, including:

  • Representing ACT and the Rainforest project with partners and communities
  • Delivering high quality forestry and conservation operations in sensitive habitats, upholding our policies and procedures
  • Complying with our health and safety policies and procedures
  • Contributing to a supportive team environment
  • Attending team meetings and contributing ideas
  • Undertaking other duties of an equivalent nature, as needed

What you'll need

  • A full UK driving licence
  • Outdoor First Aid at work + Forestry (can be completed after a provisional offer)
  • Good physical fitness and the ability to work in challenging terrain in all weathers
  • A passion for the environment and habitat regeneration, particularly temperate rainforests

Desirable extras include a Level 3/4 diploma in land-based activities, experience with a small charity or social enterprise, and familiarity with mobile GIS mapping.
