Our work Nature Restoration From Islay to Cowal: how we're bringing Argyll's peatlands back to life Over the past year, our Peatland ACTION Officers have been working with landowners, site managers and contractors across Islay and West Cowal to bring over 600ha of degraded peatland back onto the road to recovery. From blocking historic drainage networks on Coull Farm to tackling erosion and wildfire damage at Caladh Hill, the scale and variety of this work reflects what's possible when planning, partnership and people all come together. Later this month, our Peatland ACTION Officer Lucy will be presenting this work at the IUCN Peatland Conference in Swansea, sharing our Argyll case studies with practitioners and researchers from across the UK and beyond. Read on to explore the detail behind both projects, including site histories, the techniques used, and some of the challenges and lessons we're taking forward.
