In 2012 a feasibility study was conducted to assess support for establishing a new countryside trust in Argyll. Of the 350 groups and individuals consulted, 89% were in full support of creating Argyll and the Isles Coast and Countryside Trust.

We were launched in 2014 as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCO44733), regulated by the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).

In Spring 2018 we published our Progress Report and Growth Strategy 2018 - 2021. This is helping us to develop our business model from start-up charity to fully functioning social enterprise.

At our AGM in May 2023 we launched our latest Growth Strategy 2023 - 2028.  Its a reflection on our achievements to date, the increasing pressure of climate change, the awareness of natural capital and its potential, and ACT's own ability to meet these challenges.
