We're delighted to share that Jamie Joyce, ACT Climate Manager, has been certified as a Carbon Literacy Consultant (CLC), the highest trainer category awarded by the Carbon Literacy Project. Jamie is now one of just 12 trainers across the global network to hold this status.

The accreditation follows a training observation praised by assessors for strong trainer experience, high-quality delivery, and excellent promotion and advocacy of Carbon Literacy. Jamie's CLC status is valid for three years and reflects the depth of knowledge and commitment behind Argyll and Bute Climate Action Network's (ABCAN) climate action training across Argyll and Bute.

This achievement builds on a strong track record of Carbon Literacy work at ACT. We're a Gold Carbon Literate Organisation, one of only a small number in the UK to reach this level, and Jamie has led our accredited training programme from the start. That work extends across the wider community too, most recently with Cardross Primary School, which became the first primary school in the world to achieve Carbon Literate Educator status earlier this year, working in partnership with ABCAN, the Carbon Literacy Project and Argyll and Bute Council.

Speaking about the achievement, Jamie said:

"Carbon Literacy is the foundation of everything ABCAN does. Climate action needs more than targets, it needs local, practical knowledge and a network for sharing that knowledge across the region. Carbon Literacy is about far more than reducing emissions too, it's the framework that helps us embed mitigation while driving the kind of transformational adaptation that builds a climate-ready, resilient Argyll and Bute. This accreditation is a great chance to keep building that work, helping businesses, community groups, and organisations across the region develop a low-carbon culture and become more climate resilient."

Jamie will now join the CLC Advisory Panel, helping to guide the future direction of Carbon Literacy training nationally, and will be recognised at the Trainer Awards evening on Wednesday 9 September.

Congratulations, Jamie, from everyone at ACT!
