Careers with ACT

We work with communities, partners and land managers to care for, enhance and promote the coast and countryside of Argyll.

Our work includes nature restoration, climate action and awareness, outdoor learning, health and wellbeing. To deliver this work we employ people across a wide range of roles, from trainees and project staff to engagement officers, educators and specialists.

Types of roles at ACT

Trainee and early career roles

We provide opportunities for people starting their careers in habitat restoration and land management.

These include trainee roles within the Rainforest Squad and other habitat restoration projects, offering practical experience and training in field skills and environmental land management.

Habitat restoration

These roles focus on practical work on the ground, supporting woodland and rainforest restoration, peatland recovery and wider habitat regeneration projects.

Roles in this area include habitat managers, woodland coordinators, Peatland ACTION officers, and a volunteer coordinator, working across Argyll.

Outdoor learning, health and wellbeing

We run MAKI Pups outdoor nursery in Lochgilphead and other outdoor learning and wellbeing programmes.

The team includes early learning practitioners and staff delivering outdoor learning, health and wellbeing sessions for communities across Argyll.

Climate and community engagement

Through projects such as ABCAN, CPP and reCycle, we employ staff who support community engagement, climate action projects and partnerships across Argyll and Bute.

These roles often involve working with community groups, schools, businesses and local partners.

Organisational roles

We also employ staff responsible for project delivery, communications, finance and business development, helping coordinate our work across multiple projects.

You can meet the people behind these roles in our team pages.
