Our work Current projects ACT Rainforest Community Network Events A day of unforgettable experiences in the heart of Argyll’s rainforest! Join us to celebrate Argyll's rainforest and our communities at the heart of efforts to restore this special, but increasingly rare and threatened habitat. Our fragmented rainforests and the small remote communities found within it, face similar threats and risk of decline. Our Rainforest Community Network events will provide an opportunity for communities to connect to their rainforest and to each other, developing a shared approach to take on the challenges we face. Whether you're a nature lover, an adventurer, or simply seeking a peaceful escape, our diverse range of free events offers something for everyone. Dive into the beauty and serenity of one of Scotland’s most captivating natural habitats with guided walks, creative workshops, and immersive activities designed to connect you with nature. These free events are taking place from 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturday 14 September at Argyll Beaver Centre, Barrandaimh, and Sunday 15 September at Glenan Community Woodland, Portavadie. The activity schedule is the same for both locations. Please note that spaces are limited for some activities and booking is required, read on for more details and timings. 🌿Guided Rainforest Walk Time: 10 AM - 12 PMBooking Required: reserve your space Start your day with an expert-led guided walk through Argyll’s rich and diverse rainforest habitat. Forest bathing, or "Shinrin-Yoku," is a Japanese practice that involves immersing yourself in the sights, sounds, and smells of the forest. This session will help you relax, de-stress, and connect deeply with nature, promoting both mental and physical wellbeing. As darkness falls, the rainforest comes alive with glowing organisms in a breathtaking display of biofluorescence. This nocturnal walk will reveal the hidden wonders of the forest, showcasing nature's glowing secrets under the cover of night. This rare experience has limited spaces — book early! 🔨Green Aspirations: Woodworking Activities Time: All DayNo Booking Required Unleash your creativity with Paul as he guides you through hands-on green woodworking activities. Whether you’re chipping, chopping, or carving, these activities are perfect for all ages and skill levels. Learn traditional woodworking techniques and create something special to take home. Drop by anytime throughout the day—no booking necessary. 🍲 Soup & Fire: A Gathering Time: All DayNo Booking Required Warm up by the fire with Nic & Bambi, and enjoy a hearty bowl of soup in the company of friends. This all-day gathering is the perfect place to relax, share stories, and enjoy the natural surroundings. The comforting crackle of the fire and the aroma of fresh soup create an inviting atmosphere for all. Join us anytime—everyone is welcome! 🎶 Woodland Orchestra: Musical Sessions Time: All DayNo Booking Required Let the sounds of the forest blend with live music in our Woodland Orchestra sessions, led by Henry. Throughout the day, you'll be treated to spontaneous performances that harmonise with the natural environment. Feel the rhythm of the rainforest and let the music enhance your connection to this magical place. No booking needed—come and enjoy the music anytime! 🎨 Special Collaboration with Cove Park We’re also excited to announce a special collaboration with our friends at Cove Park. They will be hosting a resident artist who will work with local primary schools and create a final piece of artwork during the event days. This artwork will be a reflection of the rainforest and the communities that live here. Important Information All events are free to attend, but some require booking due to limited spaces. Please dress appropriately for outdoor activities, including sturdy footwear and waterproof clothing. Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Parking and Facilities: Parking is available at designated areas.
