World Peatlands Day is celebrated on 2nd June each year. It was launched by the International Peatland Society (IPS) and correlates with the date when the draft constitution of the IPS was adopted at an international symposium in Aberdeen in 1967.

The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of peatlands and peat across the world, including temperate, tropical and boreal peatland habitats.

Join Angharad, our CANN Conservation Officer on Islay, as she explores Duich Moss on World Peatlands Day and looks at the many conservation actions the CANN project is delivering on the island. See how the dreaded Rhododendron is being managed; marvel at some of the plants and animals that make the island such a unique place and discover how deep the peat actually is.
