Lochgilphead-based Midton, a global cast acrylic company, made us their charity of the year for 2023! By supporting ACT throughout 2023, they aim to actively contribute to our work through fundraising activities, awareness campaigns and volunteer time from their team. We’re really excited to get this support and exposure through a global and Argyll-based company.

Midton blends craft techniques with cutting-edge technology at their factory in Kilmory Industrial Estate. They are committed to sustainability and are developing new and innovative ways to manufacture, recycle and repurpose sustainable plastics to reduce waste and our impact on the environment. Their factory is heated by a biomass boiler and much of their packaging is biodegradable.

ACT’s chief executive Julie Young and our MAKI Pups outdoor nursery manager Erin Kennedy went on a tour of Midton's factory and shared news of our projects in Argyll with the Midton team. They were particularly interested in carbon literacy, our rainforest restoration and MAKI Pups outdoor nursery. Electric bikes also caught their attention, and they’re keen to have a trial!

Our ACT Now project officer Jamie Joyce went for a follow-on visit to discuss cycling to work and bike maintenance skills. Midton made this great video with Jamie.

The Midton fundraising group have set themselves some challenges this year, from sponsored cycles to cake sales. We're delighted that the proceeds will be gifted to ACT.

We're looking forward to following their fundraising progress. Go Midton!
