The Loch Lomond and Cowal Way is running a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for major route improvements. The campaign aims to raise £50k for significant upgrades to two sections of the long distance trail to make it even more accessible to visitors.

The Loch Lomond and Cowal Way is 57 miles long stretching from Portavadie in the south, to Inveruglas in the north. As you can see from the short film the route is diverse and beautiful and passes mountains, lochs, rivers and castles. It connects seven communities which host facilities including accommodation, restaurants, cafes and a marina.

Since 2000, the founder James McLuckie and the communities of the Way have been working to enhance the experience for everyone. Significant improvements have already been made but more needs to be done. In the next 12 months, they aim to take the Way to the next level, creating an outstanding and accessible outdoor experience for walkers, cyclists, and runners of all ages and abilities. Without fundraising, this work will not be done.

You can support the campaign by donating here: crowdfunder.co.uk/lochlomondandcowalway

Each donation will receive a reward according to the amount pledged. These include limited edition t-shirts, guide books, guided cycling, walking and running tours, and even the chance to star in your own outdoor film.

Here at ACT we love to encourage, facilitate, and promote responsible access to our coast and countryside through our different activities, and our work with partners and communities. Argyll and the Isles hosts over 200 miles of Scotland’s Great Trails, 80 miles of the National Cycle Network and the 93 mile Argyll Sea Kayak Trail. We support these long distance routes by facilitating the long distance route forum - a working group with representatives from all the routes, as well as from other agencies and organisations. The long distance routes are a key resource for Argyll and the Isles and attract many visitors to the region.
